Sustainable Product Design (SPD) and ISO14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) are emerging as two important approaches to corporate strategic solutions toward sustainability. Integrating product design management with ISO14001 EMS can be a promising way to fulfill a corporate strategic goal on the triple bottom-line (economic, environmental, and social) benefits. An extensive literature review shows that there is currently no comprehensive model and approach for corporate integration management.

This dissertation seeks to advance our understanding of how marketing principles can be used to improve the process of new product design. Specifically, it examines the potential of a specific cognitive process, visual mental imagery, as a tool to help designers maximize the appeal of new products in the eyes of their customers. A conceptual framework is presented that describes a process through which visual mental imagery might influence the customer appeal of a design output.

It presents 2000–03 data on rates of growth in premiums, costs, operating earnings, returns on equity, and share prices for the nation’s largest health plans (Well- Point, Anthem, United, Aetna, and CIGNA).
