Human papillomavirus (HPV) was one of the most common sexually transmitted infections in women of child-bearing age in the US. It was estimated that nearly three out of every four American women between the ages of 15 and 49 would be infected with genital HPV over the course of their lifetime. Human papillomavirus was present in almost 100% of cervical cancers.

Asian Americans, compared with other racial/ ethnic groups, are disproportionately affected by  Hepatitis B disease. The literature suggests that knowledge and awareness of prevention strategies such as receiving hepatitis B screening and vaccination are potential factors associated with occurrence of hepatitis B and liver cancer, while it is unclear how baseline characteristics relate to these effective hepatitis B prevention strategies.

Similar to many cities in the US, the Greater Cincinnati area has recently had an increase in immigrants from other countries. In particular, there is a small but growing population of West African immigrants especially from Senegal and Mauritania. In order to better understand children’s health of West African families in the Cincinnati area, in-depth, in-home narrative interviews were conducted with ten West African immigrant parents from Senegal and Mauritania.

There is emerging evidence that weight change during older adulthood is associated with decreased physical function; however, less is known about the association between weight change during middle to older adulthood and physical function. This study assessed the association of weight change between middle and older adulthood and functional limitations among 2,531 older African-American and white participants, ages 65 and older at baseline (1987), from the Piedmont Health Survey of the Elderly.

Recent syphilis outbreaks in metropolitan cities are attributed to men who have sex with men (MSM) with a significant proportion of Black or Hispanic identity. However, there are few syphilis interventions that are tailored to minority MSM. Methods: We conducted a randomized controlled trial to assess whether Black and Hispanic MSM recruited from various venues who viewed the ‘‘Syphilis and Men’’ video showed an increase in syphilis knowledge, regardless of self-reported characteristics associated with increased risk for syphilis infection. Results: Of the 168 participants, 91.1% were Black or Hispanic and 64.9% had a male partner in the past 6 months.
