Medan, July 24, 2026 – As part of its efforts to strengthen the research culture and enhance the quality of scientific publications within the academic community, the Library of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) organized a webinar entitled "Empowering Your Research Quality with Scopus Insights" via Zoom Meeting on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. (WIB). The webinar was attended by lecturers, researchers, students, and librarians who were eager to deepen their understanding of Scopus as an internationally recognized scientific database to support research, literature searching, and high-quality scholarly publications.
The event commenced with opening remarks delivered by the Head of the Library of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Syahril Efendi, S.Si., M.I.T. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of enhancing research quality and scientific publications as part of the University's efforts to strengthen its academic reputation. He also encouraged members of the academic community to take full advantage of the Library's services, digital collections, and scientific databases to support learning, research, and community engagement.
The webinar featured Pradipta Faikar Hakim, Customer Success Manager, Elsevier Southeast Asia, as the keynote speaker. During his presentation, he discussed various strategies for utilizing Scopus to improve research quality and scholarly publications. Participants gained valuable insights into the use of Scopus as an internationally recognized scientific database for conducting comprehensive literature searches, analyzing research developments, identifying emerging research trends, and developing more effective and impactful publication strategies.
In addition, the speaker introduced participants to the various features of Scopus Insights, highlighting how they support data-driven decision-making in research activities. The session covered publication performance analysis, identification of research collaboration opportunities, mapping of scientific disciplines, and the use of citation data as a reference for improving the quality of scholarly work and selecting appropriate journals for publication.
Throughout the webinar, participants actively engaged in interactive discussions and a question-and-answer session with the speaker. The webinar provided a deeper understanding of the importance of leveraging bibliometric data and reliable scientific information to produce high-quality, innovative research with a broader impact on the advancement of knowledge.
