This is the first visit by Dr. Kartini (as she is often called) to the USU Library after she previously inaugurated the Dr. Sjahrir Book Corner or Dr. Sjahrir Corner which was carried out online due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak on September 7, 2020. She, who is the wife of the late national economic figure Dr. Sjahrir, is also the Trustee of the Dr. Sjahrir Foundation. So this visit certainly has an emotional sense for her.
Dr. Sjahrir Corner is a service that provides information materials in the form of books written by the late Dr. Sjahrir who was an economist and politician during his lifetime. In addition to books written by him, this service also provides books collected by him. The late Dr. Sjahrir was known as a bookworm, so it is not surprised that his book collection is thousands. In total, there are around 1.999 titles and 2.038 copies of books available in this service. The books can be accessed using a search engine through the USU Library Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) system which can be accessed through the digilib.usu.ac.id page.
After conducting a review of the USU Library, Dr. Kartini and her entourage then visited other facilities in the USU environment including the Faculty of Ilmu Budaya (FIB), Faculty of Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (FMIPA), and Faculty of Kedokteran (FK). Dr. Kartini scheduled to inaugurate the USU Vice Rectors tomorrow at the USU Student Center.
