Medan, October 2, 2026 — The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Library once again served as a space for sharing knowledge and experiences through a study visit by SMA Negeri 1 Perbaungan on Friday (October 2, 2026). The activity provided an opportunity to exchange insights on library management, services, facilities, and efforts to develop a high-quality library that is responsive to the needs of its users.
The visit was welcomed by Irna Maulina Siregar, S.Sos., Manager of Library Services; Ray Ansyari Margolang, S.T., Manager of IT and Technical Support; and Murniaty, S.Sos. and Evi Yulfimar, S.Sos., members of the USU Library Internal Quality Assurance System Team.
During the visit, Irna Maulina Siregar, S.Sos. introduced the various services and facilities available at the USU Library. Her presentation provided teachers and students with an overview of how the library is developed not only as a provider of information resources, but also as a space that supports learning, research, and the academic needs of library users.
In addition to introducing library services, the visit also provided an opportunity to share experiences regarding library quality improvement. Murniaty, S.Sos., a member of the USU Library Internal Quality Assurance System Team, explained various aspects that need to be considered in building and improving library quality. These included quality management, service evaluation, meeting users’ needs, and continuous library development.
The knowledge-sharing session was followed by a library tour led by Lia Marisa Barus, S.I.Pust., Frans Adytia Lesmana Ginting, S.Sos., M.Si., Murniaty, S.Sos., and Evi Yulfimar, S.Sos. During the tour, teachers and students were invited to explore the various spaces, facilities, and services available at the USU Library while observing firsthand how the library supports academic activities and users’ information needs.
The study visit was not merely an opportunity to learn about library management, but also served as a platform for learning from one another and sharing best practices. The experience gained through the visit is expected to inspire the development of more innovative and adaptive libraries capable of providing services that increasingly meet the needs of their users.
Through activities such as this, the USU Library continues to create opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing with various institutions. This spirit is part of the USU Library’s commitment to continuously grow, innovate, and provide library services that are high-quality, inclusive, and impactful for the educational community.
