Director of Library Materials Deposit of the National Library Visits USU Library

MEDAN – Director of Library Material Deposit of the National Library Dra. Lucya Dhamayanti, M.Hum., visited the University of North Sumatra Library accompanied by Dra. Titiek Kismiyati, M.Hum., (February 8, 2019).

The visit was received directly by the Head of the USU Library Dr. Jonner Hasugian, M.Si., accompanied by his staff including the Head of the Administration Sub-Division Rasiman, S.Sos., and the Head of Information Technology Support Murniaty, S.Sos.

The Head of the Library then entertained his guests in the leadership room and on this occasion, Mrs. Lucya conveyed the purpose of her visit was to socialize the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 13 of 2018 concerning the Handover of Printed Works and Recorded Works.

This socialization aims to provide a correct understanding to the public, especially those in the printed and recorded works industry, about the background of the birth of this law. This is stated in the preamble to the law in question, which at one point states that printed works and recorded works which are the result of national culture have an important role as one of the benchmarks of the nation’s intellectual progress, references in the fields of education, development of science and technology, research and dissemination of information, and preservation of national culture, and are a tool for tracing historical records, traces of change, and development of the nation for national development and interests.

In addition, the Director of Library Material Deposits also participated in socializing the implementation of ISBN, ISMN, KDT, and Barcode services by the National Library which were just issued on August 16, 2018.

The meeting lasted for about an hour and ended at 11.00 WIB. Before parting, Dra. Lucya Dhamayanti, M.Hum., as the Director of Library Material Deposit of the National Library handed over three copies of three books, including Guidelines for the Implementation of ISBN, ISMN, KDT, and Barcode Services of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia, then the next book entitled Regulation of the Head of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia Number 7 of 2016 Concerning Procedures for Providing International Standard Book Numbers, and the last one is entitled Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 13 of 2018 Concerning the Handover of Printed Works and Recorded Works.

The Head of the USU Library also gave souvenirs to his guests in the form of plaques witnessed by Dra. Titiek Kismiyati, M.Hum., who is the Main Librarian of the National Library. At the end of the meeting Dr. Jonner Hasugian, M.Sc., invited his colleagues to tour or what is usually called a Library Tour while discussing Library Services to its Users, especially services for University Libraries.
