Medan, September 3, 2026 –Librarian of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Library, Murniati, S.Sos., served as a speaker at the Socialization of Library Accreditation for Secondary and Special Education Libraries and Public Libraries, held on August 20 and 21, 2026, at the 2nd Floor Hall of the North Sumatra Provincial Library and Archives Service.
The two-day event was attended by 140 participants from school and public libraries. On the first day, Thursday (August 20, 2026), 100 participants from school libraries took part in the socialization. Meanwhile, on Friday (August 21, 2026), the event was attended by 40 participants from public libraries.
The socialization was conducted to enhance library managers’ understanding of library accreditation, while also encouraging improvements in library governance and services. Through this activity, participants received information on various aspects that need to be prepared to meet library accreditation standards.
In her presentation, Murniati, S.Sos., shared her knowledge and experience in library management, as well as important aspects that need to be considered when preparing for accreditation. The materials were delivered interactively, enabling participants not only to understand the topics presented but also to discuss various conditions and challenges encountered in managing their respective libraries.
The activity also served as a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences between USU Library librarians and library managers. Discussions and question-and-answer sessions provided participants with opportunities to gain further clarification regarding the accreditation aspects that need to be fulfilled.
The participation of Murniati, S.Sos., as a speaker represents one of the USU Library’s contributions to supporting the development of library staff competencies and the improvement of information service quality. This is in line with the role of academic libraries in sharing knowledge and experience to support the development of libraries at various educational levels.
Through this socialization activity, school and public library managers are expected to improve their readiness for the accreditation process and continuously enhance library management. In this way, libraries are expected to provide higher-quality information services and better meet the needs of their users.
