USU Achieves First Place in 2017 National Outstanding Librarian Competition

MEDAN – The Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) once again held the National Selection of Outstanding Educators and Education Personnel which was held from 28 to 31 October 2017 in Jakarta. The event held at the Grand Mercure Jakarta Harmoni Hotel carried the theme “Continue to Move Forward to Quality Indonesia”.

This event itself is a real form of the government appreciating lecturers and education personnel who have given their dedication to the development of higher education in the country. Director General of Science and Technology Resources of the Higher Education Directorate General Ali Ghufron Mukti said in his speech that this award is a form of appreciation for lecturers and education personnel who have carried out their profession well, especially in the context of improving the quality of higher education and services in higher education. In addition, it is expected to provide motivation and inspiration to lecturers and other education personnel to continue to innovate, be creative, and achieve.

The categories that will be awarded are Outstanding Lecturer, Outstanding Laboratory Assistant, Outstanding Librarian, Outstanding Financial Manager, Outstanding Academic Administration Staff and Outstanding Archivist.

In the Outstanding Librarian category, Sundari S.Sos., who is a Collection Management Staff at the University of Sumatra Utara Library, won first place with her achievement entitled “Creating Pathfinder Online as a Reference Information Source at the USU Library Using the SubjectsPlus Application”.

The Peak Night of the 2017 National Outstanding Educator and Education Personnel Selection was attended directly by the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Mohamad Nasir, Director General of Science and Technology Resources of the Higher Education Ali Ghufron Mukti, along with other officials of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. The best three from each category will later receive several prizes, namely a certificate of appreciation, a trophy, cash and one laptop unit.

The following are the winners of the 2017 National Outstanding Librarian Award:
1. Sundari (University of Sumatra Utara)
2. Purwani Istiana (Gadjah Mada University)
3. Erika (Bina Nusantara University)
