USU Holds SNMPTN/SBMPTN 2019 Socialization in 18 Regencies/Cities across North Sumatra

MEDAN – HUMAS USU: To provide a more detailed understanding of the schedule and procedures for the 2019 Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi (SNMPTN), Computer-Based Written Exam (UTBK) and Joint Selection for State University Entrance (SBMPTN) to principals and students of SMU/SMK/Equivalent, the University of North Sumatra (USU) is carrying out a Socialization activity related to the material, to 18 regencies/cities in North Sumatra. The activity took place from 15 to 18 January 2019, where Medan City was the last city to carry out the socialization, which took place at the USU Community Service Institute (LPPM) Building, Jl dr Mansur Medan, Friday (18/1).

Hundreds of students from all over Medan City attended, accompanied by their respective Principals and Guidance and Counseling (BK) Teachers, to listen to guidance and direction, as well as technical implementation of SNMPTN, UTBK, and SBMPTN 2019 delivered by speakers from the Selection Implementation Committee. The activity was opened by USU Vice Chancellor I, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rosmayati, MS, accompanied by USU Head of Public Relations Elvi Sumanti, ST, M Hum, USU Chancellor’s Expert Staff and related Bureau Heads and Section Heads. The speakers were Sri Melvani Hardi, S.Kom, M.Kom and Dr. Nini Rahmawati, SP, M.Si.

Several regions that have completed the implementation of the 2019 SNMPTN/SBMPTN Socialization by USU are Tebing Tinggi, Binjai, Pematangsiantar, Deli Serdang, Rantau Parapat, Mandailing Natal, Central Tapanuli, Padang Sidempuan, Tanjung Balai, Serdang Bedagai, South Tapanuli, Sibolga, Dairi, Langkat, Asahan and Simalungun.

In the socialization in the regions, the USU Team generally faced various questions regarding the schedule and technical implementation of the selection from participants who were dominated by school principals, guidance and counseling teachers and high school/vocational high school/equivalent students. Among others, about how to fill in the Student and School Database (PDSS), the unclear accreditation status of certain schools, test materials that include the Scholastic Potential Test in addition to the Academic Competency Test, etc.

The total capacity of USU for the three national selection pathways for the 2019/2020 academic year is 7,759 people, with details of 2,288 for the SNMPTN pathway, 3,275 for the SBMPTN pathway, and 2,196 for the Mandiri pathway. SNMPTN itself was launched on January 4, 2019, with PDSS Completion and Verification from January 4 to 25, 2019. SNMPTN registration starts from February 4 to 14, 2019. While the Announcement is scheduled for March 23, 2019.
