The Library of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) launched its first podcast discussing the transformation of the library into a Smart Academic Library based on a Digital Knowledge Ecosystem for the 2026–2031 period. This initiative is part of the USU Library’s efforts to introduce its future direction in developing library services and innovation in the digital era.

The podcast featured the Head of the USU Library, Prof. Dr. Syahril Efendi, S.Si., M.I.T., as the keynote speaker and was hosted by Radea Shiddiq. The discussion highlighted various strategic transformation initiatives that position the library not only as a reading space, but also as a center for innovation, research, and knowledge development.

The transformation planned for 2026–2031 is being carried out in response to the rapid development of information technology and the growing need of the academic community for faster, more flexible, and integrated access to information. The USU Library aims to provide modern digital services through unlimited literature access, more adaptive service systems, and stronger support for research and scientific publications.

Through this podcast, the USU Library also introduced the concept of a digital knowledge ecosystem designed to create a more dynamic, connected, and relevant knowledge environment for present and future generations. This transformation is expected to support the improvement of academic quality at Universitas Sumatera Utara in its journey toward becoming a World Class University.

This inaugural podcast serves as both an educational and informational platform for the academic community while encouraging all #SobatUSULib members to support the USU Library’s transformation into an innovative and impactful future-ready library.
