USU Library Staff Achieves 2018 National Outstanding Librarian Award by Kemenristek-Dikti

MEDAN – USU Library Education Staff (Tendik), Juli Handayani received the 2018 National Outstanding Librarian award from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, received by USU Chancellor Prof. Runtung Sitepu SH MHum in his office, Thursday (01/11). The USU Chancellor congratulated the Head of the USU Central Library and his staff who have made the name of the University proud and the entire USU Library family for this achievement which is inseparable from good teamwork. The Chancellor also hopes that achievements will emerge from all the potentials owned by USU which in fact have not been maximized, he added.

Dr. Jonner Hasugian MSi the Head of the USU Library stated that the USU Library had made preparations one year before this competition took place where the preparation for the superior work presented by Juli Handayani, namely an online tutorial for library users through the Information Technology-based Pathfinder application, aims to make it easier for library collection users to search for collections.

Reported from the official website of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education https://www.ristekdikti.go.id, this annual event is the 15th time held as a form of appreciation for lecturers and education personnel who have dedicated themselves to implementing the Tri Dharma of higher education. The 2018 Diktendik Berprestasi Award Night was also attended directly by the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Menristek-Dikti), Mohamad Nasir. The Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education revealed that the existence of lecturers and education personnel greatly affects the quality of a university. For this reason, the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education is currently encouraging an increase in educational qualifications, both for lecturers and education personnel. The Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education also appreciated the struggle of the participants and encouraged the international publication of the works that had been submitted and also reminded the need to follow technological developments in education in the current industrial revolution 4.0 era.

In order to develop educators and education personnel to improve their achievements, the Directorate General of Science and Technology Resources of the Higher Education Directorate held the selection of National-Level Outstanding Educators and Education Personnel (Diktendik) in 2018 consisting of eight categories, namely; (1) academic leaders, (2) outstanding lecturers in the field of science and technology, (3) outstanding lecturers in the field of social humanities, (4) outstanding educational laboratory administrators, (5) outstanding librarians, (6) outstanding financial managers, (7) outstanding academic administration staff, and (8) outstanding archivists.

The number of participants who registered this year reached 265 people, of which 66 finalists have been selected, during two days of assessment, the jury then selected the first, second, and third place winners.

At the 2018 Diktendik Berprestasi Award Night event, it was also attended by USU Vice Chancellor II, Prof. Dr. dr. M. Fidel Ganis Siregar, MKed (OG) SpOG (K) accompanied by Dr. Drs. Jonner Hasugian Msi. This achievement was previously also achieved by USU Central Library Staff, namely Sundari Ssos in 2017 by winning 1st place in the same category.
