The event was a series of activities at the 2019 National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, which took place on January 3-4, 2019 at Diponegoro University, Semarang, Central Java.

The Public Relations Award for State Universities (PTN) and Higher Education Service Institutions (LLDikti), as well as Public Service Complaints Management (Lapor!) of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education 2018, has been held twice by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, as an appreciation for the performance of Public Relations and Lapor! management. The aspects assessed in the Public Relations Award include the quality of information services via the Internet (website), social media, and media relations. Meanwhile, in the Lapor! Management Award, the aspects assessed are the quantity of complaints, resolution, and average follow-up.

The event, which was organized by the Bureau of Cooperation and Public Communication (KSKP) of the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, involved independent and competent judges, namely the President’s Special Staff for Institutional Communication Adita Irawati, Digital Strategist Nukman Luthfie, and Member of the Public Relations Association and Founder of Nagaru Communication Dian Agustine Nuriman.

“I hope that the public relations of PTN and LLDikti will be of increasing quality. The awarding of this award is also expected to encourage public relations personnel of PTN and LLDikti to work more creatively. It is hoped that the selected PTN and LLDikti can motivate other public relations to perform better. For those who have not won, congratulations on working even better. We are waiting for your best work in 2019,” said Secretary General of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Ainun Na’im. In addition to the Secretary-General, the awards were also presented by Undip Rector Yos Johan Utama, Head of LLDikti Region VI Central Java Dwi Yuwono Puji Sugiharto, and Head of the KSKP Bureau of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Nada Marsudi.

According to Ainun Na’im, in line with the principles of good governance, the function of government public relations is vital. Government policies must be communicated quickly, accurately, and in a way that is accepted by the public. For this reason, government public relations must be able to build close relationships with stakeholders.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (16/04/18) instructed the public relations of ministries and non-ministerial institutions, as well as BUMN to be transparent and agile in providing information, especially those related to government achievements and breakthroughs. The information packaged must be easy to understand, interesting, and touch the hearts of the people. The Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, including PTN and LLDikti, through its public relations function, strives to provide the best information services to stakeholders.

Public Relations of PTN and LLDikti must disseminate ministry programs and absorb public aspirations, as well as serve as a reference for determining the direction of institutional policies. In line with this role, public relations must carry out the main functions of public relations, such as planning, compiling, and distributing information through mass media, new media, and exhibitions.
