Medan, Friday (January 24, 2025). The USU Library welcomed a special visit from two international students participating in the “Language Program,” a collaborative initiative between the USU Language Center and International Internships (headquartered in Jakarta). The two students, Jared McCormick and Naomi Barret, came from Deakin University, Australia. They were welcomed by Mrs. Lindawati Harahap, S.Sos., and Murniaty, S.Sos., serving as Head of the Administrative Subdivision and Head of User Services Division.

The “Language Program” is joined by three participants, including Zoe Emma Lanyon, who is currently undertaking the Bahasa Indonesia for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) program at the USU Language Center for one month, from January to early February 2025. Their visit to the USU Library aimed to practice their Indonesian language skills through direct conversations with library visitors and to explore Indonesian-language book collections. The visit also reflected their strong interest in literacy and their eagerness to learn more about the library system at Universitas Sumatera Utara.

Their presence at the USU Library not only enriched their learning experience but also highlighted the library’s role as a knowledge resource center that supports international cultural and academic exchange. The facilities and collections available at the USU Library served as important tools in facilitating language learning and broadening the international students’ understanding of Indonesian culture.

Curious about their activities? Let’s take a look at the documentation!
