During the working visit of Commission III of the Board of Trustees on Thursday (16/9), USU Library presented the Library Performance Report for the period January – August 2021 and received good feedback regarding the Branch Library service which has its uniqueness. “I see that other universities do not have branch libraries,” said the Chairman of Commission II MWA USU Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Irvan M.Si.
“The existence of the Faculty Branch Library aims to bring services closer to students. Visits to the University Library before the pandemic could reach 5000 students per day. Therefore, the Branch Library was opened,” explained Laila Hadri Nasution, S.Sos., M.P., as the Head of USU Library.
Despite the pandemic, the USU Library continues to provide excellent services in the form of Book Reservations, Turnitin Test Checks, Submission of Student Final Works, and Article Orders. We present all of these services online to reduce student mobility and reduce the acceleration of the spread of COVID-19 in the University environment.
Located in the 1st Floor Conference Room, USU Library also presented other needs including infrastructure, human resources, and library technology. Sundari. S.Sos., M.Si., added “Our library plans to redesign the appearance of the existing space into a millennial co-working space which is expected to look like this. The initial appearance is very simple to be more cozzy, which is how we can increase the refreshing and recreational value of the library for younger students, “he said in his presentation.
At the end of the visit, Commission III MWA USU took the time to walk around and directly review the existing infrastructure. And through this activity, it is hoped that the USU Library will be able to get more attention so that it can provide good services to be even better.
