Medan, July 9, 2026 – The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Library once again organized the Information Literacy Class as part of the USU Library Holiday Program 2026, featuring the theme "Basic Canva Training" on Thursday, July 9, 2026. This activity was part of a series of information literacy programs aimed at enhancing students' digital skills during the holiday period.
The event was officially opened by Sundari, S.Sos., M.Si., Secretary of the USU Library. In her opening remarks, she emphasized that digital literacy, including the ability to create visual designs, has become an essential competency for students in today's digital era. Through this training, the USU Library hopes participants will not only be able to utilize digital technology effectively but also produce creative, informative, and high-quality visual content to support academic and organizational activities.
The training was delivered by Tengku Izynovansyah, S.S.I. as the main instructor. During the session, he was assisted by Junitia Arihta Keliat, S.Sos. and Franz Adytia L. Ginting, S.Sos., M.Si., who provided guidance and hands-on assistance throughout the practical exercises.
Participants were introduced to Canva's fundamental features, including the user interface, templates, design elements, color selection, typography, and practical techniques for creating simple visual materials such as posters, presentations, certificates, and social media content. The participants enthusiastically engaged in the training through presentations, live demonstrations, question-and-answer sessions, and hands-on practice.
The training reflects the USU Library's commitment to strengthening the digital literacy of the university's academic community. In addition to equipping participants with the ability to access and manage information effectively, the program also provides visual design skills that are increasingly valuable in academic, organizational, and professional environments.
Through the USU Library Holiday Program 2026, the USU Library hopes students will continue to develop their creativity, enhance their digital competencies, and produce engaging, communicative, and high-quality information media.
