Medan, July 16, 2026 – The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Library once again organized the 2026 USU Library Holiday Program Information Literacy Class through a Basic Canva Training session held on Thursday (July 16) at the USU Library Conference Room. The activity was attended by students from various faculties as part of the Library's commitment to enhancing their ability to create creative and effective visual designs for academic and organizational purposes.

The training featured Tengku Izynoviansyah, S.Sos. as the speaker, accompanied by Franz Adytia L. Ginting, S.Sos., M.Si. Throughout the session, participants were introduced to Canva's essential features, including the creation of presentations, posters, infographics, and social media content using templates, graphic elements, and effective design techniques.

In his presentation, Tengku Izynoviansyah, S.Sos. explained that Canva is a user-friendly design platform that is highly relevant to supporting students' academic and creative activities in today's digital era.

"Information literacy is not only about finding and understanding information, but also about presenting it in a visually appealing and effective way. Canva is one of the tools that enables students to communicate their ideas creatively," he said.

In addition to the presentation, participants took part in a hands-on practice session by creating their own designs using their Canva accounts. The speaker provided direct guidance throughout the practical session, enabling participants to understand the platform's features while applying fundamental design principles such as color selection, typography, layout, and the effective use of visual elements.

The training was further supported by Franz Adytia L. Ginting, S.Sos., M.Si., who assisted participants during the practical session and provided constructive feedback on their design projects. This interactive approach encouraged discussion and allowed participants to receive solutions to various challenges encountered during the design process.

Participants demonstrated great enthusiasm throughout the program, particularly during the practical exercises and question-and-answer session. Many took the opportunity to learn practical tips for producing more professional and impactful visual designs for communication purposes.

Through this training, the USU Library hopes that students will not only strengthen their ability to access and manage information but also develop the skills to transform information into engaging, informative, and visually appealing content suitable for both academic and professional environments.

This activity is part of the 2026 USU Library Holiday Program Information Literacy Class series, which is consistently organized to enhance the information literacy and digital literacy competencies of the Universitas Sumatera Utara academic community.
