Medan – The USU Library has launched a book donation drive through the BLiTS (BINUS for Literacy) program as part of its commitment to promoting children's literacy in Indonesia. The initiative invites members of the USU academic community and the general public to contribute by donating books that are still in good and readable condition.
The USU Library serves as one of the official collection points for the program, where donated books will be gathered before being distributed to communities and beneficiaries in need. This initiative represents a collaborative effort to expand access to reading materials, promote equitable access to education, and foster a stronger reading culture across various regions.
The program accepts a wide range of book categories, including children's storybooks and fairy tales, educational comics, young adult novels, alphabet and number learning books, general knowledge books, biographies, self-help and personal development books, as well as practical skills and hobby books. All donated books are expected to be in good condition, suitable for reading, and capable of providing meaningful benefits to their future readers.
Through this initiative, the USU Library encourages members of the academic community and the public to give unused books a new purpose. By donating books, participants help provide quality learning resources for children while fostering a culture of sharing through literacy.
The USU Library hopes that this initiative will inspire broader public participation, enabling more books to reach children and communities in need. Every donated book is more than a collection of pages—it is a gateway to knowledge, hope, and opportunities that can help shape the future of Indonesia's next generation.
