USU Library Obtains ISO 9001:2015 Certification

MEDAN – The University of Sumatra Utara Library successfully obtained ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9001: 2015 Certificate through PT. Global Certification Indonesia. The submission of the ISO 9001:2015 Certificate was carried out by Mrs. Fildzah Shabrina, SE. as a Consultant from PT. Qims Intrasindo and received by Mr. Drs. Syakirin Pangaribuan, SH. as the Head of the ISO Coordinator at USU Library who is also the Deputy Head of USU Library.

The Certificate handover was held in the Reference & Information Literacy Room at around 10:00 WIB on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Also present were the Heads of Division and Heads of Sub-Divisions within the USU Library. The event was also attended by the Head of the USU Library Administration Subdivision Mrs. Reeni, SE, MM. Meanwhile, the Head of USU Library Dr. Jonner Hasugian, M.Si. could not attend due to illness.

At the time of the certificate submission, Fildzah Shabrina as the Consultant entrusted by the USU Library said it was important for the USU Library to maintain the quality standards that had been set together so that consumer confidence (users) was maintained, which was obtained from the quality assurance of the product or service provided by the USU Library.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the USU Library ISO Coordinator Syakirin Pangaribuan hopes that all USU Library staff can carry out the quality standards that have been set so that library services can be improved. He also added that the purpose of obtaining an ISO 9001: 2015 Certificate is to obtain an ideal benchmark in making products or services that will be utilized by the USU Academic Community.

International Organization for Standardization or better known as ISO, is one of the international standards in a management system for measuring organizational quality. An organization that has an ISO Certificate will have more chances to win market competition. This is because there is a guarantee of the quality of the products or services offered, and will increase consumer confidence in the related brand.

The ISO 9001:2015 Certificate handover event lasted about an hour and ended with a group photo. The certificate was symbolically handed over by Mrs. Fildzah Shabrina and received by Mr. Syakirin Pangaribuan.
