Tuesday, April 7, 2026 – The Library of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) welcomed a visit from Slawomir Swiatecki, a researcher from Silesian University, Poland, as part of an initiative to explore academic collaboration and to present a scholarly publication to the library.
During the visit, Slawomir Swiatecki donated a book entitled Budi Agustono – William Bradley Horton, Cultures, Societies and Politics in North Sumatra, Indonesia (2025). The donation represents an academic contribution and an effort to enrich the collection of the USU Library.
The visit was also part of his ongoing research on the history of plantations in East Sumatra, particularly focusing on the legacy of Polish investment in the region. In conducting his research, he utilized various literature resources and local references available at the USU Library as primary sources of information.
Through this activity, the USU Library once again reaffirmed its role not only as an information service center but also as an important reference source for international researchers. This demonstrates that local collections and resources can make significant contributions to the advancement of global knowledge and scholarship.
Moving forward, Universitas Sumatera Utara is expected to continue encouraging the optimal use of library collections while expanding international academic partnerships to support the advancement of research and education.
