Head of the National Library Inaugurates PP-IPI for the 2018–2021 Period
Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta–Head of the National Library of Indonesia Muhammad Syarif Bando officially inaugurated the Central Management of the Indonesian Librarians Association for the 2018-2021 period at the National Library Auditorium, Monday, (14/01). On this occasion, a scientific seminar on librarianship was also held, and the Director of Higher Education, Science and Technology, and Culture of the Ministry of PPN/Bappenas Amich Alhumami was presented as a resource person.

USU Urges High Schools and Vocational Schools to Complete PDSS Immediately
HUMAS USU: The University of Sumatra Utara (USU) appeals to public high schools (SMU) and other equivalents in North Sumatra to immediately fill in the School and Student Database (PDSS), which will take place from January 4 to 25, 2019. Filling in the data is the main requirement for taking part in the 2019 Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi (SNMPTN). USU Wins 3rd Place in the 2018 Public Relations Award for State Universities by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education
MEDAN – HUMAS USU: The University of Sumatra Utara (USU) won third place in the Public Relations Award for State Universities (PTN) and Higher Education Service Institutions (LLDikti), as well as Public Service Complaints Management (Lapor!) of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education 2018. The award was presented by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Ainun Na’im to the Chancellor of USU, Prof. Dr. Runtung Sitepu, SH, M Hum, who was represented by the Head of Public Relations of USU, Elvi Sumanti, ST, M Hum. The event was a series of activities at the 2019 National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, which took place on January 3-4, 2019 at Diponegoro University, Semarang, Central Java.

National Library Launches Khastara: A New Way to Discover Nusantara Manuscripts

The collection of ancient Indonesian manuscripts is written in various scripts and languages. The National Library until 2017 had 11,133 manuscripts. However, not many can read every content, both implied and explicit.

USU Library Staff Achieves 2018 National Outstanding Librarian Award by Kemenristek-Dikti
MEDAN – USU Library Education Staff (Tendik), Juli Handayani received the 2018 National Outstanding Librarian award from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, received by USU Chancellor Prof. Runtung Sitepu SH MHum in his office, Thursday (01/11). The USU Chancellor congratulated the Head of the USU Central Library and his staff who have made the name of the University proud and the entire USU Library family for this achievement which is inseparable from good teamwork. The Chancellor also hopes that achievements will emerge from all the potentials owned by USU which in fact have not been maximized, he added.

11th Indonesia Digital Library Conference
MEDAN – As a means of sharing experiences, knowledge, suggestions, and formulations regarding the role of digital libraries in disseminating knowledge in the era of digital disruption, the Indonesian Digital Library Forum fostered by the National Library of Indonesia in collaboration with the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian Digital Library Forum, the University of Sumatra Utara, the North Sumatra Provincial Government, the Medan City Government, the North Sumatra Provincial Library and Archives Service, Medan State University and the Medan State Polytechnic will hold the 11th Indonesian Digital Library conference on November 6-9, 2018 at the FourPoints by Sheraton Hotel, Jl. Jendral Gatot Subroto No. 395 Medan North Sumatra, Indonesia.

MEDAN – The University of Sumatra Utara Library held an IEEE Publishing Solution Workshop on Monday, September 24, 2018, in the Conference Room on the First Floor of the USU Library. The event started at 08.00 AM attended by 100 participants from Postgraduate Students and Lecturers from the MIPA, Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science Study Programs, and several USU Library Librarians.
